Sammilito Islami Bank has formally taken over the responsibilities of five merged banks, including Global Islami Bank and Union Bank, at a programme on 13 August.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Md Mostakur Rahman was present at the handover programme.
Global Islami Bank Administrator Md Mokseduzzaman handed over the bank’s responsibilities to Sammilito Islami Bank Chairman Quazi Shairul Hassan and Managing Director Md Abedur Rahman Sikder, said a press release on Saturday.
Union Bank Administrator Mohammad Abul Hashem also handed over responsibilities to the chairman and MD at the same event.
Sammilito Islami Bank MD Sikder said the bank would restore normal banking services as soon as possible and regain customer trust. He called for cooperation from all levels of employees, customers and well-wishers.
He said the board and management were committed to good governance, full Shariah compliance and inclusive banking, aiming to build a sustainable and welfare-oriented financial institution.
Deputy governors, senior Bangladesh Bank officials and Sammilito Islami Bank board members attended.
