National Bank customers will be able to avail all banking services from 15 October. Withdrawals will be available as per demand from all branches and ATM booths across the country. Counter services, the mobile app, internet banking and all other digital and online services will be fully operational from the same day, said a press release on Thursday.

The decision follows a meeting between National Bank Chairman Melita Mehjabeen and Acting MD Zahidul Haque with Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Md Mostaqur Rahman in the morning. BB Deputy Governors Md Habibur Rahman, Md Kabir Ahmed, Md Sarwar Hossain and Md Anis Ur Rahman were present.

The Governor emphasised protecting depositor interests and maintaining public confidence in the banking sector, and instructed National Bank to take necessary measures to ensure withdrawals as per depositor demand.

At a National Bank Board of Directors meeting held later on the day, management was instructed to provide all banking services as per customer demand from all branches and ATM booths from 15 October.

Melita Mehjabeen informed the Governor that good governance has been established in the bank following recent BB initiatives, and that positive changes have been made to the senior management.
