MH Samorita Hospital and Medical College marked World Diabetes Day 2025 with a rally, a discussion session, and a free diabetes screening camp, said a press release.
The initiative was organised under the theme Impact of diabetes in the workplace and awareness, focusing on how the disease affects daily life and professional responsibilities, according to the release.
A rally was brought out in the morning with the participation of the college principal, vice-principal, department heads, faculty members and intern doctors.
The discussion session that followed featured college principal and endocrinologist Md Abdul Jalil Ansari, who said diabetes has become a major global health challenge.
He said maintaining a balanced diet, regular exercise, a healthy lifestyle and routine blood sugar monitoring are essential steps in preventing the disease.
He said diabetes can affect people of any age and urged early detection to ensure effective management.
A free diabetes screening camp was later opened to the public where around 250 individuals received testing and counselling services.
The organisers said they would continue similar initiatives to raise awareness and ensure timely treatment for diabetes patients.
