Lion Salma Adil, a Melvin Jones Fellow, has assumed the presidency of the Lions Lions Clubof Chittagong Dynamic City for the 2026-27 service year, vowing to strengthen transparency, accountability and community engagement as the service organisation seeks to expand its humanitarian programmes.
According to a press release, Salma Adil took over from outgoing president Lion Pulin Chandra Gharami at a handover and reception ceremony held in Chattogram on Sunday. The event also welcomed the Lions International District 315 B4 governor team and the Multiple Council chairperson.
District Governor Lion Md Kamruzzaman Liton attended the ceremony as chief guest, while Multiple Council Chairperson and Immediate Past District Governor Lion Moslehuddin Ahmed Apu was the special guest. First Vice District Governor Lion Md Abu Bakar Siddique and Second Vice District Governor Lion Parveen Mahmud attended as guests of honour alongside past district governors M A Malek, Kabir Uddin Bhuiyan and S M Shamsuddin.
In her inaugural address, Salma Adil said her priorities would be leadership excellence, transparency, accountability and collective participation to make the club’s welfare initiatives more effective. She also pledged to introduce sustainable programmes for underprivileged communities.
Speakers commended the club’s humanitarian work and said they expected its community service activities to expand under the new leadership. The programme concluded with a cultural performance by members of the Leo Club of Golden City.
