Two cocktail explosions occurred in front of the residence of Syeda Rizwana Hasan, adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Water Resources.
The incident took place around 9pm on Sunday on Central Road in the capital. However, no casualties were reported from the event.
Syeda Rizwana Hasan told media that after suddenly hearing a noise in front of her house, she came outside and confirmed the matter. Her house’s CCTV footage showed two individuals arriving, setting off two cocktail explosions, and fleeing.
Eyewitnesses reported the same: Two miscreants quickly came, threw the cocktails, and ran away. The sound caused much anxiety and panic among the adviser’s neighbours in the surrounding area.
Police arrived at the scene shortly after the incident. They stated that the source and motive of the explosions are being investigated. They are also collecting CCTV footage from the surrounding area.
Earlier, around 7:30pm, two rounds of cocktail explosions also occurred at the Circus Fountain intersection in Karwan Bazar. No injuries were reported.
