Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), with the support of Nagad, has presented the Best Reporting Award 2025 to 27 journalists across 24 categories.

The chief guest of the event, Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed, handed crests, certificates, and cheques for Tk50,000 to the award recipients. Nagad Board of Directors Chairman Kaiser Ahmed Chowdhury, Administrator Motasim Billah was present as guest of honour. The event was also attended by some of the country’s most eminent journalists, policymakers, and distinguished individuals from various fields.

Speaking as the chief guest, Salehuddin Ahmed said, “The next three months are very important for the country’s economy. If the interim government had not taken responsibility, the country’s situation could have worsened. Currently, inflation has decreased from 14% to 8% and it will decrease further.”

He added, “Journalists are the voice of the people. It is extremely important for journalists to stand by the people by providing correct information during critical periods. The works submitted by the reporters are highly valuable for the country’s socio-economic development and also in the global context. When journalists highlight problems immediately, it becomes possible to solve them quickly.”

DRU President Abu Saleh Akon presided over the event. The welcome address was given by General Secretary Mainul Hasan Sohel.

Twenty-seven individuals received the Nagad-DRU Best Reporting Award-2025. Among them, four journalists won awards jointly in two categories.
