BNP senior joint secretary general and prime minister’s political adviser Ruhul Kabir Rizvi visited the Pallabi residence of slain child Ramisa Akter on Thursday, the day of Eid-ul-Adha, to convey condolences on behalf of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
An emotional atmosphere emerged during the visit as Ramisa’s father broke down in tears.
Consoling the family, Rizvi said he came on behalf of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to inquire about them and express sympathy.
He said the Prime Minister assured the family that the rapist and killer would receive the highest punishment. Rizvi also said the Prime Minister has taken responsibility for the education of Ramisa’s elder sister Raisa.
“We will all stand beside Raisa’s family as relatives,” he added.
On 19 May, eight-year-old second-grade student Ramisa Akter was raped and brutally murdered in Pallabi, Dhaka, allegedly by Sohel Rana. The accused is currently in jail.
BNP Health Affairs Secretary Md Rafiqul Islam, member Mahbubul Islam, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Vice-President Touhidur Rahman Auwal and North South University Director Iqbalur Rahman Rokon were also present during the visit.
