Singer Rizia Parveen has stepped into the political spotlight after collecting nomination papers for a reserved women’s seat from the BNP, marking a shift from her long-standing career in music to public service.
The popular musician, known for her contribution to Bangla music since the 1990s, shared that she is seeking nomination from her home district Kishoreganj. She formally collected the papers recently and briefed the media about her intentions and future plans.
Rizia said her decision is driven by a desire to work more directly for people, particularly women, while also contributing to the cultural sector from a policy level. She added that she has already been involved in social and community work in her locality.
Speaking to journalists, she highlighted women’s empowerment and cultural development as her key priorities if she is elected to the parliament. She further expressed hope of using her background as an artist to strengthen engagement in both areas.
