Air travel across Saudi Arabia has been severely disrupted following Houthi strikes, with hundreds of flights cancelled or delayed at major airports.
Jeddah’s airport has been experiencing major disruptions, with 156 flights cancelled, accounting for 20 per cent of all flights, while another 347 flights have been delayed, representing 49 per cent of the total, according to flight-tracking service Flightradar24.
Meanwhile, Riyadh’s airport remains closed, further affecting air travel in the country. Dammam’s airport has also seen a significant slowdown in flight activity, with no flights recorded in the past two hours and only three landings reported over the past four hours, Flightradar24 added.
The disruptions come amid escalating attacks on Saudi Arabia.
More people were injured on the day of the latest Houthi strike on Riyadh’s international airport, while the death toll continued to rise following an attack the previous day that killed more than a dozen people, Al Jazeera reports.
Dammam’s airport was also attacked on the same day, adding to concerns over the impact of the strikes on the country’s aviation operations.
The attacks and subsequent airport disruptions have affected flight operations at key Saudi aviation hubs, with cancellations, delays and reduced flight activity reported at Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam.
