Rashed Prodhan, vice president and party spokesperson of the National Democratic Party (NDP), a member of the 11-party electoral alliance, has announced that he will not participate in the upcoming national parliamentary election.
He said, “in the greater interest of unity,” he will not be a candidate in this election.
Rashed Prodhan informed about this decision in a status posted on his Facebook account on Thursday.
Explaining his decision, Rashed Prodhan said, “In the greater interest of unity, I will not participate in the national parliamentary election this time. However, I will actively participate in the election campaign in favor of ‘Yes’ in the public vote and for the candidates of the unity.”
He further said, “Political compromise and unity are far more important than the individual Rashed Prodhan. Therefore, I hope no one feels disheartened.”
In the status, Rashed Praman said, whatever the situation may be, the partner parties of the united movement are comrades on the streets and fraternal organisations.
In this context, he called upon the leaders, activists, and supporters of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Andolan Bangladesh, and all other concerned parties to refrain from unwanted behaviour and language towards each other.
