Promotional posters for Bollywood film Ramayana: Rise of a Legend have sparked debate on social media after appearing on streets and at cinema complexes in Saudi Arabia.

According to Indian media reports, several cinema complexes in the country have opened advance ticket sales ahead of the film’s release. Posters featuring characters from the Hindu epic Ramayana have also reportedly appeared in public spaces.

Their display has drawn mixed reactions online. Some social media users questioned the presence of the posters in the predominantly Muslim country, while others saw it as a sign of Indian cinema’s growing international reach.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the two-part film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana.

The film’s promotional campaign has also attracted attention beyond India. Members of the Hindu community in Karachi, Pakistan, have also taken notice of the campaign.
