State Minister for Housing and Public Works Ahmed Sohel Manjur has instructed RAJUK officials to work as a team to ensure proper service delivery to city dwellers.
The state minister made the remarks on Saturday as the chief guest at an exchange meeting held at the Rajuk Auditorium to review the overall activities of Rajuk’s Development Control Wing.
The meeting was chaired by Rajuk Chairman Engineer Md Riazul Islam. Also present were Rajuk members Sheikh Matiar Rahman, Mohammad Bashirul Haque Bhuiya, and Mohammad Zahirul Islam.
The state minister listened attentively to the various statements and opinions of Rajuk officials and provided directives regarding the resolution of existing workplace problems.
Rajuk’s Development Control Wing primarily works to ensure planned urbanisation in the capital development area. The wing conducts various regulatory activities related to building construction, land use, and urban planning.
Its responsibilities include examining and approving designs for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings; ensuring proper land use according to the Master Plan and Detailed Area Plan (DAP); verifying compliance with the Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC); conducting drives against unauthorised building construction and taking legal action.
The wing also monitors building height, setback, and Floor Area Ratio (FAR), and upon completion of construction, verifies building usability before issuing an Occupancy Certificate, officials said.
