Rajshahi Division recorded their first victory of the ongoing National Cricket League (NCL) with a convincing seven-wicket triumph over Khulna Division on the third day of the second-round fixture at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Monday.
Set a modest target of 113, opener Habibur Rahman Sohan led from the front with a blistering 62 off 68 balls to guide Rajshahi to victory in the final session.
Earlier in the day, Khulna resumed on 68 for one but failed to build on their position and were eventually bowled out for 255 in their second innings. Mehidy Hasan Miraz top-scored with a fighting 48 from 62 deliveries.
Rajshahi’s pace duo Nahid Rana and Ali Mohammad Walid were the chief destroyers, taking three wickets each to dismantle Khulna’s batting line-up.
In Sylhet, veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten on 93, while captain Zakir Hasan added 43 as Sylhet Division reached 260 for seven at stumps in reply to Dhaka Division’s first innings total of 310. Sylhet had resumed the day on 33 without loss.
Meanwhile, persistent rain and a wet outfield disrupted play in Cox’s Bazar, where the match between Mymensingh and Rangpur saw no play at all. Only 15 overs were possible in the Barishal-Chattogram encounter, with Barishal moving from their overnight 115 for two to 166 for two before stumps.
