Maasranga Television’s popular morning programme Raanga Shakal is set to celebrate a major milestone as it reaches its 5,000th episode on Saturday, 29 August.

Launched on 30 July, 2011, with the slogan “Rangate Elo Maasranga”, Maasranga Television has focused on bringing positive, creative and distinctive programmes to its viewers.

Raanga Shakal has remained one of the strongest reflections of that vision.

Planned by Maasranga Television Managing Director Anjan Chowdhury, the programme has been broadcast continuously since the channel’s first day.

Airing every morning from 7am to 9am for more than 15 years, Raanga Shakal has evolved from a television programme into a familiar part of the daily routine of countless viewers.

The biography-based programme features individuals who have made significant contributions to different fields of society.

More than 8,000 distinguished guests have appeared on the show over the years. Remarkably, almost all of them have appeared only once.

Anjan Chowdhury himself will be the special guest on the 5,000th episode.

The episode will be hosted by Rumman Rashid Khan and Khaleda Akter, with Zubayer Iqbal serving as producer.

Reflecting on the programme’s journey, Chowdhury said the idea behind Raanga Shakal came from his desire to offer viewers a more positive start to their day.

“Every morning, we wake up and see different kinds of news. The negative news often affects the mood of our entire day. That is why I wanted Raanga Shakal to be a programme through which people could see a positive picture of Bangladesh as soon as they woke up and carry that positivity throughout the day,” he said.

Chowdhury credited the channel’s employees and the programme’s guests for making the long journey possible.

“This journey would never have been successful if all the employees of Maasranga Television and our guests had not embraced the programme with sincerity. On this special occasion marking the 5,000th episode of Raanga Shakal, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of them,” he added.

A special gathering will also be held at the Maasranga Television premises on Saturday to mark the milestone.

Guests who have been directly or indirectly associated with the programme throughout its journey, along with behind-the-scenes crew members and media journalists, have been invited to the event.

The completion of 5,000 episodes marks not only a milestone for Raanga Shakal, but also a reflection of the collective love and trust of its viewers, guests, crew members and well-wishers over more than 15 years.
