Reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain demonstrated grit as well as flair to secure a 6-5 aggregate victory over Bayern Munich, drawing 1-1 in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League semi final in Germany and reaching a second successive final.
After a nine goal thriller in Paris, this encounter at the Allianz Arena was more measured but no less compelling.
PSG struck early through Ousmane Dembele, who finished clinically in the third minute following a sweeping move. Fabian Ruiz threaded a precise pass into the path of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, whose cut back found Dembele to fire into the roof of the net.
The assist underlined Kvaratskhelia’s remarkable form, as he became the first player in Champions League history to register a goal or assist in seven consecutive knockout matches within a single campaign.
Bayern responded with urgency. Luis Diaz created a clear opportunity for Michael Olise, only for Nuno Mendes to produce a crucial block. Moments later, Jonathan Tah denied Kvaratskhelia at the other end.
Chances continued to flow. Joao Neves saw a clever header turned wide by Manuel Neuer, while Bayern appealed unsuccessfully for a penalty following a handball incident involving Neves.
Before the break, Jamal Musiala forced a fine save from Matvey Safonov, and Tah headed narrowly wide as the hosts pushed to reduce the deficit.
PSG remained dangerous after the interval, with Desire Doue and Kvaratskhelia both testing Neuer. However, it was their defensive discipline that stood out, limiting Bayern’s attacking rhythm.
The hosts eventually found a breakthrough deep into stoppage time, as Harry Kane rifled into the top corner in the 94th minute. The goal made him only the second player, after Cristiano Ronaldo, to score in six consecutive Champions League knockout appearances.
Despite the late scare, PSG held firm to seal progression and keep their title defence alive.
Managed by Luis Enrique, the Paris side will now face Arsenal in the final in Budapest on 30 May 2026. Having already lifted their first European crown in the same city last season, PSG will be aiming to make it back to back triumphs, though Arsenal will be determined to prevent that.
