As the Eid-ul-Fitr OTT line-up gathers momentum, leading streaming platform Chorki has announced its new original series ‘Cactus’, starring Pritom Hasan and Mehazabien Chowdhury. Directed by noted filmmaker Shihab Shaheen, the series has completed shooting, with its teaser released on March 4, sparking widespread discussion among viewers online.
The teaser introduces a tense cyber-thriller narrative centered on Manasiv, played by Pritom Hasan. Portrayed as a highly skilled hacker, Manasiv is seen behind bars yet drawn back into the digital battlefield under extraordinary circumstances. Facing a national-level crisis, government authorities seek his expertise, turning the imprisoned cyber genius into a crucial operative in a high-risk mission.
Pritom described the character as complex and evolving. Without revealing key plot details, he hinted at a compelling journey. “Manasiv may be a hacker, but his work has purpose. I hope audiences will join me in that journey,” he said, praising the director’s vision and execution.
Mehazabien appears as Anura, a strong and mysterious character who adds a new dimension to the story. The teaser presents her in an action-driven avatar, marking a significant shift from her earlier roles. She shared that the project required rigorous preparation, particularly for action sequences choreographed by Edward Gomez and his team. “I had never performed action at this level before. It was challenging and exciting at the same time,” she said, adding that the script itself motivated her to take on the role.
Shihab Shaheen suggested that ‘Cactus’ aims to deliver more than a conventional thriller. He indicated that the series could potentially establish a distinctive spy universe, though he maintained that viewers will have to watch to fully grasp its scope. “The scale of the story is far bigger than what the teaser suggests,” he remarked.
