Actress Emily Osment sought an intimacy coordinator while filming romantic scenes with her younger co-star Montana Jordan on ‘Young Sheldon’, saying their age difference made her uncomfortable.

According to Variety, Osment, who played Mandy McAllister in the CBS sitcom, was around 30 when Jordan, who portrayed Georgie Cooper, was 18.

In a new oral history of the series by journalist Jessica Radloff, Osment recalled raising concerns about their kissing scenes and asking producer Tim Marx for support.

The production could not arrange an intimacy coordinator immediately, but brought one in for subsequent episodes as the characters’ relationship developed.

Osment said having a coordinator made the process easier and stressed the importance of giving both actors the option to feel comfortable.

She also noted that Jordan might not have realised he could request such support himself.

Director Alex Reid acknowledged that the production had initially overlooked the need for an intimacy coordinator because the show did not feature sex scenes.

He recalled that both actors appeared uncomfortable during an early kissing scene, partly because they had only recently met.

The storyline attracted attention because Georgie and Mandy’s relationship began with both characters misrepresenting their ages. Georgie was 17, while Mandy was 29, when they first met in the series.

Osment and Jordan later continued their roles in the spin-off ‘Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’.
