The state minister said the country’s banking system had previously been “destroyed” but was now being restored. He added that the government had faced an energy crisis and was therefore focusing on long-term energy reserves.

He also said the rural economy had been strengthened, adding that the stronger the rural economy becomes, the lower inflation will be. “At present, commodity prices are stable. Suddenly it was claimed that rice prices had increased. We checked the market and found that rice prices remained stable,” he said.

Bari further said grapes, strawberries and avocados were now being cultivated in Bangladesh, adding that the country would develop further if people were given more opportunities to work.

Speaking on good governance in his capacity as State Minister for Public Administration, Bari said honesty, competence and merit were being given priority in all recruitment and appointments.

He said the budget could not be implemented without an honest, competent and merit-based civil administration.

“The administrative system was destroyed over the past 17 years. We are working to restore it. We are ensuring that not a single taka of the budget is wasted. If the budget is properly utilised, employment and national income will increase, helping us move towards becoming a developed country,” he said.
