President Mohammed Shahabuddin has accepted the resignation of High Court Justice Md Rezaul Hasan.
A notification issued by the Law Ministry on Monday confirmed that Justice Md Rezaul Hasan submitted a signed letter of resignation addressed to the president. Shahabuddin has formally accepted the resignation.
Earlier, on 30 March, Justice Rezaul Hasan stepped down amidst allegations of irregularities, corruption, misconduct, and abuse of power. He had submitted his resignation letter to the Supreme Court for onward transmission to the president.
High Court Justice Rezaul Hasan’s resignation follows an ongoing investigation by the Supreme Judicial Council, the constitutional body empowered to oversee the removal of higher court judges.
On 24 November last year, Shah Group Chairman KM Mojibul Hoque filed a complaint against the judge with the Council.
The application detailed allegations of corruption, misconduct, and abuse of power, requesting thorough investigation and recommending appropriate measures under the Constitution should the allegations be proven.
