Presidency University hosted Rabindra-Nazrul Jayanti 2026 on its campus on Tuesday, bringing together the literary and cultural legacy of Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam in a programme attended by students, teachers and senior university officials.
The event highlighted the university’s emphasis on promoting cultural values and national heritage alongside academic education, the university said in a press release.
Presidency University Vice Chancellor Prof Md Abdul Mannan Chowdhury attended the programme as the chief guest.
Among others present were Presidency University Board of Trustees Principal Adviser Prof Md Anwarul Kabir, Registrar Md Sakir Hossain, School of Engineering Dean Prof Shahidul Islam Khan, School of Business Dean Professor Abul Kalam, School of Law Dean Professor Mohammad Azharul Islam, Controller of Examinations Md Zahedur Rahman and Director of Administration and Students’ Affairs Afroza Helen.
Department heads, teachers, officials, staff members and students also joined the programme held on the university campus.
“The arrangement is playing an important role in inspiring students to develop love for Bangla literature and culture, creativity and respect for national heritage,” said Vice Chancellor Prof Md Abdul Mannan Chowdhury.
The programme was jointly organised by the Presidency University Students’ Affairs Office and the Presidency University Cultural Club.
