Tamil actor Preity Mukhundhan has been named the latest recipient of IMDb’s ‘Breakout Star’ STARmeter Award, recognising her rapid rise in Indian cinema, writes Deadline.
Mukhundhan, who entered the Indian film and television industry in 2024, has already worked across Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films.
IMDb honoured her following the success of her recent Tamil films Blast and Idhayam Murali, which released within two months of each other.
Her performances helped her gain significant popularity on IMDb’s Popular Indian Celebrities list.
She ranked as the second most popular Indian celebrity for one week and later reached the sixth position.
The STARmeter Award celebrates emerging talent who gain strong audience attention on IMDb.
Previous recipients include Akash Makhija, Ramandeep Yadav, Ambrish Verma, Ahaan Panday, Aneet Padda, Monika Panwar, Zahan Kapoor, Kani Kusruti, Sharvari, Nitanshi Goel, Adarsh Gourav, Ayo Edebiri, Maya Hawke and Regé-Jean Page.
Expressing her gratitude, Mukhundhan said receiving the award was a special moment and credited audiences worldwide for their support.
“This recognition means a lot to me because it comes directly from the interest and support of audiences around the world,” she said.
She added that the honour motivates her to continue improving, exploring challenging roles and creating meaningful films.
Mukhundhan currently has five more projects lined up, including the Telugu film Emo Emo Idi and an untitled Tamil film opposite actor Ashok Selvan.
The actor said the response to her performances has encouraged her to continue growing and taking on roles that connect with audiences.
