A low-pressure area has formed again over the Bay of Bengal. Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has instructed two seaports to hoist local cautionary signal no 3.

The information was disclosed in a special weather bulletin issued by BMD on Tuesday.

According to the bulletin, the low-pressure area is currently located over the east-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining Myanmar coast. It may move toward the Bangladesh-Myanmar coastal region.

Signed by meteorologist Hafizur Rahman, the warning said under its influence, deep convective clouds are developing over the northeast Bay of Bengal.

Due to this, squally or gusty winds may blow over Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, the northeast Bay, and adjoining areas, the bulletin added.

As the low-pressure area is heading toward the Chattogram coast, BMD has advised Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar seaports to keep hoisting local cautionary signal no 3.

At the same time, fishing boats and trawlers operating in the northeast Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.

Meanwhile, BMD forecasted that rain and thundershowers may occur in three divisions of the country on Wednesday.
