Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, the minister for textiles and jute, commerce, and industries, has emphasised the necessity of policy reforms to attract increased foreign investment.
Speaking at an exchange meeting held at the conference room of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute at the Secretariat on Thursday, the Minister noted that global interest in natural and biodegradable products is currently at its peak.
Highlighting that jute is deeply intertwined with the nation’s heritage, he remarked that it is no longer essential to require licences for every aspect of the industry. He further stressed that work must be carried out with a focus on ethics and capacity-building to facilitate foreign capital.
In his remarks, Md Shariful Alam, the state minister for textiles and jute, commerce, and industries, stated that Bangladesh must project its competitive attitude, capabilities, and facilities to the world to attract foreign investors.
He called upon all stakeholders to work in unity in accordance with government directives.
Earlier in the session, Bilkis Jahan Rimi, secretary of the ministry of textiles and jute, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the ministry’s overall activities.
The meeting was also attended by Additional Secretary Arifur Rahman Khan, Additional Secretary Subrata Shikdar, and Additional Secretary Raina Ahmed, alongside senior ministry officials and the heads of various subordinate departments and agencies.
