The Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Bangladesh Police, Baharul Alam, has said that Bangladesh Police is always performing its duties with dedication and professionalism to control the overall law and order situation of the country and protect the life and property of the people.
He said these things in his speech as the chief guest at a pre-election meeting organised at the Chattogram District Police Lines Civic Centre on Saturday.
The IGP said that police members must ensure the use of body-worn cameras while performing duties, which will help increase transparency and accountability. Ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election, he instructed all police members to perform their duties with utmost caution, patience, and complete impartiality.
This meeting was organised with the participation of police officers and force members on the occasion of the upcoming national parliament election.
In his welcome speech at the meeting, Chattogram Police Superintendent Mohammad Nazir Ahmed Khan said that police are working with maximum preparation to complete the election freely, fairly, and peacefully. He emphasised the professionalism and impartial role of the police force.
At the meeting, police members from various levels presented their practical field experiences, challenges during the election period, and various welfare-related demands and proposals. Among these, demands for supplying speedboats for island police stations, loan facilities for purchasing motorcycles, introducing and increasing island allowances, and increasing government benefits for those assigned election duties were notable.
In his speech as a special guest, Additional IGP and Chattogram Metropolitan Police Commissioner Hasib Aziz emphasised strengthening security in the metropolitan area during the election period, technology-based policing, and increasing inter-unit coordination.
In his concluding speech at the meeting, Additional IGP and DIG (Chattogram Range) Md Ahsan Habib Palash called upon all units to perform election duties with discipline, professionalism, and responsibility in accordance with the IGP’s directives.
458 police members of various ranks, including senior officers from the Chattogram Range Office, Chattogram Metropolitan Police, and 29 units under the Chattogram division, were present at the meeting.
The meeting is considered a significant guidance-oriented event aimed at boosting the morale of police members and ensuring the upcoming national parliament election is completed freely, fairly, impartially, and peacefully.
