A multimedia reporter of Jugantor was injured after police allegedly attacked him while he was covering an Inqilab Moncho march near the Jamuna State Guest House on Friday afternoon.
The march, organised to demand justice for the murder of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of the platform, attempted to move towards Jamuna after breaking through a barricade at the InterContinental intersection.
Police responded by firing sound grenades, tear gas shells and water cannons, and carrying out baton charges, including against women protesters.
During the confrontation, Abu Saleh Musa, a multimedia reporter of Jugantor, was reportedly targeted by a police officer while filming the scene.
The officer struck Musa, causing his smartphone to fall and break. As Musa fell, other officers allegedly joined the assault.
Musa suffered a fractured finger and serious injuries to his back and ribs.
