The Bangladesh Police Service Association on Wednesday alleged that a coordinated campaign is underway on social media to disrupt police operations and undermine national security.
In a statement, the association said Facebook groups, pages and other online platforms were being used to circulate “misinformation, fabricated narratives and provocative content” targeting members of law enforcement.
It claimed the campaign aimed to weaken institutional discipline within the police force and erode public confidence in law enforcement agencies.
The association also linked the alleged online activities to politically motivated groups and what it described as “vested interests,” saying that officers who have taken action against crime and maintained professional standards were being selectively targeted.
Security analysts, however, said such coordinated information campaigns pose broader risks to state institutions, particularly those responsible for maintaining law and order.
They cautioned that the spread of misinformation under the guise of free expression could further strain public trust and institutional stability during a politically sensitive period.
Bangladesh Police Service Association said it was monitoring the situation closely and urged all concerned to remain alert against attempts to destabilise public order.
It reaffirmed that members of the police force would continue to carry out their duties with professionalism and in accordance with the law.
