Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will visit Cox’s Bazar for a two-day tour starting 14 June. During the visit, he will take part in multiple development programmes in Pekua and Chakaria upazilas.
The information was confirmed by Safwanul Karim, press secretary to Salahuddin Ahmed, MP from Cox’s Bazar-2 (Chakaria–Pekua) constituency.
He said the Prime Minister will inaugurate foundation stone-laying ceremonies of several development projects, launch a tree plantation programme and address a public rally during the visit.
According to the proposed schedule, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the tree plantation programme at Dulahazara Safari Park in Chakaria at 11am on Sunday, 14 June. He will also visit different areas of the park.
Later, he will travel to Pekua and pay tribute at the grave of Shaheed Wasim, a victim of the anti-discrimination student movement. He will then unveil the foundation stone of Pekua municipality.
After completing the programme, he will attend a lunch at Saeed Mansion, the ancestral home of Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed.
He will then proceed to Chakaria to inaugurate the foundation stone of the newly formed Matamuhuri upazila.
At 4pm, the Prime Minister will address a public rally at Chakaria Municipal Bus Terminal ground as chief guest.
After the rally, he will return to Cox’s Bazar for an overnight stay. On 15 June morning, he is scheduled to attend an exchange meeting with local elites before departing for Dhaka.
