Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is set to inaugurate a special two-day parliamentary training workshop organised by the BNP on Friday and Saturday (6 and 7 March).
The workshop, scheduled ahead of the first session of the 13th National Assembly, will be held at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan.
According to party sources, the sessions will focus on strategies for local development, the effective implementation of policies, and supervision of respective ministries. Discussions will also cover the prevention of corruption, the establishment of good governance, and ensuring transparency in government activities.
The training is specifically designed to provide first-time elected Members of Parliament (MPs) with an understanding of parliamentary proceedings, the bill and budget process, the functions of standing committees, and the strategic aspects of managing ministries.
Experienced former bureaucrats, academics, and former MPs will provide guidance to the participants.
This intensive training for newly elected MPs and ministers comes as President Md Sahabuddin has summoned the first session of the 13th National Assembly for 11:00 am on March 12.
The schedule for the first day, Friday, March 6, designates the session from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm for ministers, state ministers, and advisers. The second session, held from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm, will include MPs from the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, and Faridpur divisions.
On the second day, Saturday, March 7, the morning session will be attended by the remaining MPs from Dhaka district and the Mymensingh and Faridpur divisions. The afternoon session is expected to host MPs from the Sylhet, Cumilla, and Chattogram regions.
