Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has conveyed Bangladesh’s firm solidarity with the United Arab Emirates amid the ongoing conflict situation, expressing concern over attacks, casualties and damage to property.
Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir delivered the Prime Minister’s personal message during a meeting with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi on the Wednesday evening.
The letter, addressed to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, highlighted Bangladesh’s support for the leadership, government and people of the UAE.
The Prime Minister expressed deep concern over the loss of lives, injuries and property damage caused by the attacks.
He also appreciated the UAE government’s continued support in hosting a large number of Bangladeshi expatriates and the measures taken to ensure their safety and well-being.
Prime Minister reiterated Bangladesh’s readiness to extend any necessary support if required by UAE authorities and invited the UAE President to visit Bangladesh.
During the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah expressed his government’s condolences over the killing of two Bangladeshi expatriates in attacks in the UAE. He reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to ensuring the safety of all residents, regardless of nationality.
He also thanked Bangladesh for its solidarity and support.
Humayun Kabir commended the restraint shown by the UAE leadership and stressed the importance of resolving disputes through dialogue and diplomatic means.
The discussion also focused on the strong state of bilateral relations, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening cooperation across sectors of mutual interest.
The Foreign Affairs Adviser is currently visiting several Gulf countries as the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy to deliver his messages to regional leaders and to reinforce Bangladesh’s engagement with the region.
