Prime Minister Tarique Rahman paid tribute at the grave of national leader Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani in Tangail on Tuesday afternoon.

The prime minister visited Bhasani’s grave in Santosh at 5pm, where he recited Surah Fateha and offered prayers, according to his Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon.

Liberation War Affairs Minister Ahmed Azam Khan, State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, MP Abdus Salam Pintu, and other leaders were present on the occasion.

Later, the prime minister visited the room where Maulana Bhasani used to live in Santosh and signed the visitors’ book kept there.

Earlier in the day, the prime minister left his residence in Gulshan, Dhaka, by road and arrived at Tangail Shaheed Maruf Stadium at 11:20am, where he formally inaugurated the pilot project for the farmer card distribution programme.

He also inaugurated a Baishakhi agricultural fair at the municipal park in Tangail town and toured the stalls before proceeding to the Circuit House for lunch.
