Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday expressed deep shock and sorrow over the death of Ekushey Padak-winning eminent artist and cultural personality Mustafa Monwar.
In a condolence message, the prime minister said Mustafa Monwar’s death had created a great void in the country’s art and cultural arena, which would not be easy to fill.
He said the nation would remember Mustafa Monwar’s contributions with profound respect and that his works and ideals would continue to inspire future generations.
The prime minister prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed his deepest sympathies to the bereaved family.
Mustafa Monwar died on Monday morning while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the capital. He was 90.
He was awarded the Ekushey Padak in 2004 in recognition of his contributions to fine arts.
