Free Wi-Fi services are being introduced to improve public service standards and enhance digital facilities at airports and other important public places across Bangladesh.
As part of this initiative, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated the free Wi-Fi service at Saidpur Airport in Nilphamari on Monday. The Prime Minister launched the service while returning to Dhaka at night after concluding his visit to Dinajpur.
Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Saleh Shibli informed that the prime minister inaugurated the service by scanning a Wi-Fi QR code at Saidpur Airport. Saleh Shibli stated that under this positive government initiative, internet facilities will be gradually introduced at all airports and important installations across the country.
The Press Secretary said that as part of electoral pledges, the prime minister is introducing ‘free public internet’ at important public places across the country. Under this initiative, people will be able to use free internet at various locations including railway stations and airports across the country.
This service has already been introduced at Cox’s Bazar and Rajshahi airports, as well as at Dhaka Airport Railway Station and Cox’s Bazar Railway Station.
Saleh Shibli further informed that with the introduction of this service, people will be able to easily exchange necessary information, communicate online, and carry out travel-related work using the internet. As part of expanding the government’s digital services, this technological facility is being increased nationwide.
