Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on Saturday joined a discussion meeting organised by BNP to mark its 48th founding anniversary.

The discussion, titled “Korbo Kaj, Gorbo Desh, Sobar Age Bangladesh” (We will work, build the country, Bangladesh first), began at around 3:50pm at the auditorium of Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) in Farmgate, Dhaka.

BNP Acting Secretary General and Prime Minister’s Political Adviser Ruhul Kabir Rizvi is presiding over the programme.

Members of BNP National Standing Committee and invited distinguished guests are taking part in the discussion.

BNP Central Publicity Secretary and State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku is moderating the programme.

The event began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem.

A one-minute silence was observed in memory of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman, former BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and all those who sacrificed their lives for the country and the party.

The party anthem and a documentary on BNP were then presented.

Ziaur Rahman founded the BNP on 1 September 1978.

The five-day central programme marking the party’s 48th founding anniversary began on Tuesday and concluded with Saturday’s discussion.

BNP Standing Committee members Mahbub Ullah, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Abdul Moin Khan, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salahuddin Ahmed, Selima Rahman, AZM Zahid Hossain, Amanullah Aman, Farhad Halim and Ismail Zabihullah, among others, are taking part in the discussion.
