Two more people died of dengue in the past 24 hours, while 988 others were hospitalised with the viral disease across the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The DGHS disclosed the figures in its daily dengue update issued on Saturday.

Of the newly hospitalised patients, 170 were from Barishal Division, 123 from Chattogram, and 176 from areas of Dhaka Division outside the city corporations.

Dhaka North City Corporation reported 102 new cases requiring hospitalisation, while Dhaka South City Corporation recorded 149.

Khulna Division reported 163 new admissions, followed by Mymensingh with 50, Rajshahi with 49 and Rangpur with six.

With the latest figures, the number of dengue patients hospitalised across Bangladesh this year has risen to 41,032.

The country has recorded 113 dengue-related deaths so far this year, according to the DGHS.
