Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will take strict action against any negligence in government work, said his Political Adviser Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
Rizvi, who is also BNP Senior Joint Secretary General, said that whether it is a bureaucrat or a political figure, the Prime Minister is taking firm measures against negligence in performing duties.
He made the remarks at the unveiling of the book Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s Five-Month Development Journey and at a discussion titled Bangladesh of Tomorrow held at the CRAB auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity.
Rizvi said books work like lamps to dispel darkness, acting as a great source of light. He emphasised that there is no alternative to books in the progress of human civilization.
He explained that the theories and concepts written by scientists were published in books, which allowed later generations to read, practice, and innovate. As a result, new discoveries emerged every year and century. Therefore, no substitute for books has ever been created.
Highlighting the importance of reading, Rizvi said, “If we do not read books, do not acquire knowledge, and do not receive even minimum education, then both our inner world and the outer world will remain in darkness. Books are the passport to the world of the mind. Once this passport is obtained, it becomes possible to dispel darkness both within and outside.”
Presenting the government’s five-month activities, Rizvi said, “Many things are being said about the elected government of Tarique Rahman. But this book documents, with statistics and events, what the government has done in these five months. The nation knows and has seen these. However, when all the information is compiled and presented in an organised way, it becomes an important record.”
Referring to various government initiatives, the BNP spokesperson said that the prime minister has been traveling across Bangladesh—in fields, markets, and ports—since assuming office, to implement the promises he made before the election. He is working day and night and personally monitoring whether his commitments are being fulfilled.
Rizvi added, “The prime minister is not showing any negligence in this regard. If anyone neglects their duties, he is taking strict action whether they are bureaucrats or political figures. At the same time, he is inspiring those who are working and encouraging them to serve the people’s welfare.”
On the issue of propaganda against the government, Rizvi said, “Those who are spreading propaganda against the government, trying to tarnish its image, and obstructing its work in various ways, this book will play a role in countering their collective efforts.”
The discussion was chaired by Rotarian Nazmul Hasan, adviser to the organisation, and conducted by its president, Saidur Rahman. Advocate Arifa Sultana Ruma, BNP Executive Committee member Mahbubur Rahman, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Vice President Touhid Auwal, were present at the event.
