Tollywood actor Dev visited veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty at a Kolkata hospital on Friday night, shortly after returning from Ladakh following the shooting of his upcoming film DeSu 7.
Dev had travelled to Ladakh with co-star Subhashree Ganguly to shoot a song for the film.
He returned to Delhi on Friday (7 August) afternoon and later travelled to Kolkata, where he went straight to the hospital to check on Mithun’s health.
Speaking to the media after meeting the veteran actor, Dev said their relationship went beyond politics.
“Whichever party Mithunda may be in, he is like my father. He was, is and always will be. And I am like his son,” Dev said.
“I hope he recovers soon and does not have to remain in hospital any longer. I want him to return to work in good health. We will also be working together in the future, and I hope we can do that in good health,” he added.
Dev also shared a photograph from his hospital visit on social media, writing that Mithun had always been like a father to him and wishing him good health, happiness and everything he deserves.
The bond between the two actors has remained strong despite political differences and controversies.
Dev and Mithun have worked together in the Projapati franchise, with both films drawing significant attention at the box office as well as in West Bengal’s political circles.
Their association had previously sparked controversy after Projapati faced objections over Mithun’s political affiliation.
Despite the criticism, Dev continued to stand by the veteran actor.
Meanwhile, Mithun recently underwent a minor surgery on his right hand at a private hospital near Kolkata’s Bypass.
He had suffered an injury to the hand around two years ago, following which a plate was inserted. The recent procedure was performed to remove the old plate.
According to hospital and family sources, Mithun is responding well to treatment and his condition is currently stable and out of danger.
West Bengal Chief Minister Shuvendu Adhikari also visited the actor at the hospital on Friday morning.
