A Dhaka court has scheduled 13 January, for arguments in a case involving 18 individuals, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her nieces Tulip Siddiq and Azmina Siddiq, over alleged irregularities in the allocation of a plot in the RAJUK New Town Project.
Judge Robiul Alam of Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 issued the order after Khurshid Alam, the only arrested defendant in the case, gave his self-defence statement through his lawyer, pleading not guilty.
The court had concluded testimony in the case on 5 January and set today for the defence’s statement.
Earlier, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Investigation Officer and Assistant Director Afnan Jannat Keya had testified as the final prosecution witness, after which she was cross-examined by the defence.
A total of 31 witnesses have testified in the case.
The ACC filed the case against 16 individuals on 13 January, 2025, and submitted a charge sheet on 10 March, charging 18 individuals.
