Phoenix Summit 2026 concluded in Dhaka on Saturday after bringing together policymakers, cybersecurity professionals, researchers, technology companies and students to strengthen Bangladesh’s cyber resilience and deepen cooperation among emerging economies.
Held over five days at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre (BCFCC) and the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB), the summit focused on the theme Closing the Cyber Gap in Emerging Economies. It was organised by The Team Phoenix Group (TTPG) and powered by BRAC Bank PLC.
According to the organisers, more than 10,000 participants attended conference sessions, technical workshops, exhibitions and networking events. Seventy-three organisations showcased cybersecurity products and services, while 18 university clubs and three local and international knowledge partners took part.
The programme featured panel discussions on cybersecurity, digital resilience, protection of critical national infrastructure, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies and responses to evolving cyber threats, with local and international experts sharing research, policy recommendations and industry experience.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon, who attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest, said Bangladesh should leverage international technology partnerships and its large youth population to accelerate digital development.
“During a recent visit to China, we discussed how Bangladesh can benefit from its knowledge, technical expertise and experience. Our young population is a major strength if we can harness it strategically. This summit reflects that potential,” he said.
The Team Phoenix Group Founder and Chief of Research ASM Shamim Reza said the summit exceeded expectations in bringing together policymakers, researchers, cybersecurity professionals, students and technology practitioners from Bangladesh and abroad.
He said the exchange of knowledge, collaboration and new ideas generated during the event would help strengthen Bangladesh’s cybersecurity ecosystem and digital resilience.
The summit also recognised contributions to the sector. The Cyber Security Club of Islamic University received an award for promoting cybersecurity awareness and community development, while Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL) Deputy General Manager Joyeeta Sen Rimpee was honoured for her contribution to cybersecurity and encouraging more women to enter the profession.
The Lifetime Honour Award was presented to Fibre at Home Chief Information Officer Sumon Ahmed Sabir in recognition of his long-standing contribution to Bangladesh’s cybersecurity ecosystem, leadership and efforts to advance innovation and professional excellence.
The first three days of the summit featured technical workshops at KIB, including Practical Cyber Investigation organised with support from the National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA), alongside hands-on sessions on DevSecOps, application security, vulnerability management, penetration testing and ransomware.
The summit was supported by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the ICT Division and NCSA. Alongside BRAC Bank as powered-by sponsor and Axiata PLC as associate sponsor, the event received sponsorship from banks, technology companies and industry organisations, with APNIC, SANS Institute and Resecurity serving as cybersecurity knowledge partners.
