A pedestrian was killed and a motorcyclist injured in a road accident in Tetulia upazila of Panchagarh on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Sohel, 35, son of Samad of the Daulatpara area under Tirnaihat union. The injured motorcyclist, Alamgir, 25, was admitted to the Tetulia Upazila Health Complex.
The incident occurred around 10am on the Tetulia–Banglabandha road in the Daulatpara area of Tirnaihat union.
According to police and locals, Sohel was crossing the highway when a motorcycle travelling from Banglabandha hit him. He died on the spot, while the rider was injured.
Locals immediately informed the police and rescued the injured biker, taking him to the local upazila health complex for treatment.
Confirming the incident, Debashish Roy, officer-in-charge of Tetulia Highway Police Station, said a case will be filed in connection with the accident and that all legal procedures are underway.
