The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has successfully identified the decapitated body recovered from the banks of the Kaliganga River in Manikganj.
The identity of the deceased was confirmed on Thursday night through fingerprint analysis and advanced information technology, according to a press release issued by the PBI.
The victim has been identified as Rafiq Mia, 28, a resident of Rathuria village in the Baniyajuri Union of Ghior Upazila, Manikganj. He was the son of the late Yusuf Ali.
The headless corpse was originally discovered at approximately 5:45 PM on 25 March in the Barail Bottola (Nabagram) area. Following the discovery, a PBI crime scene team, acting under the direction of Manikganj District Superintendent of Police (SP) Joyita Shilpi (Psc), arrived at the location to initiate the investigation.
A team led by Police Inspector (Unarmed) Md. Kamruzzaman, including SI Md. Rabiul Islam Khan, SI Md. Anwar Hossain, PSI Nuruddin Khan, ASI Selim Reza, and Constable Samiul Haque, collected fingerprints from the body at the scene. These fingerprints were subsequently verified against the National Identity Card (NID) database to establish the victim’s identity.
SP Joyita Shilpi stated that a rigorous investigation is currently underway to uncover the mystery surrounding the incident, and other legal processes are ongoing.
