Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Mia Golam Parwar has called for unity between Hindus and Muslims to protect the country and build a humane Bangladesh free from division.
“We want to safeguard this country through the collective strength of Hindus and Muslims. I urge everyone not to be misled by propaganda,” Parwar said while addressing a views-exchange meeting with Hindu community leaders of Khulna-5 (Dumuria-Phultala) constituency at an elite hotel in the city on Thursday night, reports BSS.
Parwar criticized political rivals for branding opponents as “razakars” instead of countering “ideologies with ideologies.” He said, “The new generation does not believe such misleading propaganda.”
He further stressed that people of all faiths and opinions must live with equal dignity. He also warned that anyone threatening activists working under the “balance scale” (Jamaat’s electoral symbol) would face strict action from law enforcement, affirming that everyone has the right to participate freely in politics.
The meeting was presided over by Khulna district Jamaat secretary and election steering committee convener Munshi Mizanur Rahman. District Jamaat Ameer Maulana Emran Hussain spoke as special guest, while Dumuria Hindu Committee general secretary Deb Prasad Mondal conducted the session.
Others who addressed the meeting included Dumuria upazila Ameer Moktar Hossain, Phultala upazila Ameer Professor Abdul Alim Molla, Dumuria upazila Nayeb-e-Ameer Maulana Habibur Rahman, Khan Jahan Ali thana Ameer Dr Syed Hasan Mahmud, and Dumuria Hindu Committee president Krishna Nandi.
