Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC is set to launch Islamic banking operations in Bangladesh as the Sri Lankan lender expands its range of financial services in the country.
The bank’s Deputy Chairman Raja Senanayake and Global Managing Director Sanath Manatunge will arrive in Dhaka on Sunday to inaugurate the new Islamic banking operations on 23 August, the bank said in a press release.
The move will introduce Shariah-compliant banking solutions to the bank’s portfolio in Bangladesh, allowing it to offer additional products and services to customers seeking Islamic finance options.
Commercial Bank of Ceylon said the initiative reflects its continued investment in Bangladesh and its efforts to align its global banking expertise with the evolving needs of the local market.
The bank’s leadership team will also meet clients, industry representatives and business partners during the visit to discuss market opportunities and explore areas for further growth and investment.
The introduction of Islamic banking operations marks an expansion of the bank’s services in Bangladesh, where Islamic finance has grown as a segment of the country’s banking sector.
