Bangladesh Open University has punished 40 students for violating examination discipline and adopting unfair means in different programmes.
The decisions were taken at the 55th meeting of the university’s Discipline Committee held on Thursday at the conference room of the Vice-Chancellor’s office at the university’s main campus in Gazipur, according to university press release.
The meeting was chaired by Bangladesh Open University Vice-Chancellor Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan.
According to the decisions of the Discipline Committee, the students were given penalties of different durations under the university’s existing rules and regulations over allegations of examination misconduct.
The committee members also discussed measures to ensure examination discipline, transparency and accountability and placed recommendations in this regard.
Bangladesh Open University authorities said the university remains committed to maintaining academic standards, ensuring a fair examination environment and taking strict action against all forms of irregularities and unfair practices.
The university said discipline, transparency and a fair evaluation system are essential for establishing quality and credible higher education.
The meeting was attended by Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Anisur Rahman, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Md Serajul Islam, examination controller and committee member-secretary Md Habibullah Mahmud, along with other committee members.
