Bangladesh University’s Cultural Club has secured the second runner-up position in an inter-university drama competition organised by the University of Asia Pacific Drama Club.
The team achieved the recognition after competing against drama troupes from 10 renowned universities across the country. Bangladesh University staged the play ‘Raincoat’, written and directed by Tarek Shuvo, during the competition.
Professor Dr Mohiuddin Bhuiyan, acting vice-chancellor of the University of Asia Pacific, handed over the award to the winning team at the grand finale and prize-giving ceremony held on 20 August.
The competition featured drama teams from North South University, Independent University, Bangladesh, Bangladesh University of Professionals, American International University-Bangladesh, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, Daffodil International University, Shanto-Mariam University, Prime University, Notre Dame University Bangladesh and Government Titumir College.
The achievement marks a notable recognition for Bangladesh University’s cultural activities, as its drama team competed against several prominent university troupes.
Reflecting on their achievement, members of Bangladesh University’s Cultural Club said their success was driven by confidence, hard work and mutual trust.
“We relied on our self-confidence, hard work and faith in one another. We moved forward by embracing our limitations as challenges,” they said.
Quazi Jamil Azher, chairman of the Board of Trustees of Bangladesh University, and Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Jahangir Alam congratulated the students and everyone involved in the achievement.
They expressed hope that the university’s cultural initiatives would achieve greater success in the future.
