The Parliament Secretariat Commission approved the proposed budget estimates of Tk290.60 crore for the operating and development sectors of the National Parliament for the 2026-2027 fiscal year.
The approval came at the 37th meeting of the commission, chaired by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed at the Parliament Building on Wednesday.
For the 2026-2027 fiscal year, the commission approved Tk289.90 for the operating sector and Tk70 lakh for the development sector.
The meeting also approved the revised budget estimates for the 2025-2026 fiscal year: Tk226.69 crore, with Tk226.49 crore for operating and Tk20 lakh for development.
Commission members attending included Prime Minister and Parliamentary Leader Tarique Rahman, Opposition Leader Shafiqur Rahman, Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman, Deputy Speaker Kayser Kamal, and by special invitation, Chief Whip Md Nurul Islam Moni.
At the beginning of the meeting, the minutes of the previous meeting were confirmed, and discussion was held on the implementation and progress of earlier decisions. The progress of ongoing projects of the Parliament Secretariat was also discussed.
The agenda was presented by National Parliament Secretary Barrister Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan. Senior officials from the Parliament Secretariat and concerned ministries were also present.
