At least seven people were injured in a clash between two groups over fuel collection at a filling station in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj on Wednesday.

The incident occurred at Mirza Filling Station near Dadanchak Hall intersection, involving residents of Bararshia and Dadanchak villages.

Two crude bombs were also exploded during the clash, heightening tension in the area.

Additional Superintendent of Police Yasin Arafat and local Union Parishad Chairman Azam Ali confirmed the incident.

According to police and local sources, tension between the two villages had been brewing since Monday.
An argument between two youths over fuel collection at the filling station that day escalated into a scuffle.

The dispute carried over into Tuesday, when both groups were involved in chase and counter-chase incidents.
On Wednesday, the situation worsened as villagers from both sides engaged in a violent clash, leaving seven people injured.

Police rushed to the scene after being informed and brought the situation under control.

UP Chairman Azam Ali said a minor dispute triggered the clash between the two groups.

Additional SP Yasin Arafat said law enforcers acted swiftly to restore order and are now working to resolve the matter locally.

Shibganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Mazharul Islam said the filling station has been closed temporarily following the incident, though vehicular movement on the road remains normal.

Additional police have been deployed in the area to prevent further escalation.
