Four members of a family, including two children, were found dead early Tuesday at Bahadurpur village in Niamatpur upazila of Naogaon.
The victims were Habibur Rahman, 35, his wife Popy Khatun, 30, their son Parvez, 9, and daughter Sadiya Khatun, 3. Parvez was a fifth‑grader at Bahadurpur Government Primary School.
Locals said Habibur went to bed with his family after dinner Monday night. On Tuesday morning, a neighbour discovered the bodies inside their home. Police recovered them around 8am.
Niamatpur Police Station Officer-in-charge Mahbubur Rahman said the bodies were sent to Naogaon General Hospital for autopsy. He added that legal proceedings are underway and details will be known after investigation.
Police said Habibur and his wife were found with their throats slit, while the children were fatally struck on the head.
Locals said Habibur, a cattle trader, returned home around 8pm Monday with Tk280,000 after selling livestock at Mandar Choubaria market.
Police suspect robbers killed the family during a raid, looting cash and gold ornaments before fleeing.
