Bangladesh has approved 12 senior civil servants to attend a three-week executive leadership programme in Pakistan, with Pakistan bearing all costs, according to an official order issued on Thursday.

The Executive Development Programme for Senior Bangladesh Civil Service Officers is scheduled to be held at the Civil Services Academy in Lahore on 4-21 May, excluding transit time.

The delegation will be led by Salma Siddiqua Mahtab, additional secretary at the Health Services Division. Other participants are Mohammed Mostofa Jamal Haider, director general (joint secretary) at the Ministry of Commerce; Md Abu Rayhan Miah, joint secretary at the Ministry of Public Administration; Md Firoz Ahmed, joint secretary at the Cabinet Division; Mohammad Monirul Islam, joint secretary at the Cabinet Division; Md Toufik Imam, joint secretary at the Ministry of Public Administration; Md Raihan Akhtar, joint secretary at the Ministry of Public Administration; A.F.M. Ehteshamul Hoque, joint secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs; Mohammad Shamsul Hoque, joint secretary at the Local Government Division; Muhammad Abdus Salam, joint secretary at the Ministry of Public Administration; Dr Md Zillur Rahman, joint secretary at the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief; and Zia Ahmed Suman, member directing staff (joint secretary) at the Bangladesh Civil Service Administration Academy.

The Ministry of Public Administration said Pakistan will cover all expenses for the programme, meaning Bangladesh will incur no financial cost.

Participants will be treated as on duty during the programme and transit, receiving their regular salary and allowances in local currency, the order said.

The directive requires officials to return immediately after completion of the training and submit a report to the ministry’s foreign training section within five days, reinforcing administrative oversight of the visit.

The order, signed by Deputy Secretary Mahmud Ullah Maruf, was circulated to senior government offices, including the cabinet secretary and the principal secretary to the prime minister, as well as the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka.
