The Pakistan High Commissioner to Dhaka, Imran Haider, and his wife, Naima Imran, have been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Continental Hospital after sustaining burn injuries in a fire early this morning.
The hospital’s control room confirmed that the couple was brought to the facility at 9am. They are currently receiving treatment under the supervision of Dr Amina Sultana.
It is preliminarily suspected that the fire originated from an electrical short circuit at the High Commissioner’s residence in Baridhara during the early hours of the day. Both were hospitalised for burn injuries and respiratory complications resulting from smoke inhalation.
