In preparation for a peaceful Chittagong University Central Students’ Union (Cucsu) and hall union election, 1,200 police officers have been deployed across the campus and surrounding areas.
Chittagong’s Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Saiful Islam Santu confirmed on Wednesday morning (October 15) that strict security measures had been put in place throughout the campus before voting began.
Police personnel have been stationed at the university since the night of Tuesday (October 14). Both uniformed officers and plainclothes police are ensuring security during the election.
SP Saiful Islam Santu stated, “The Chittagong District Police have taken all necessary measures to ensure that the CUCSU and hall union elections are conducted in a fair, peaceful, and impartial manner. Currently, 1,200 police officers are on duty.”
In a briefing held on Tuesday, the District Police Superintendent also instructed the police officers handling election duties to maintain professionalism, integrity, and impartiality throughout their responsibilities.
